Mumbai based Gururaj Rao has moved on from Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services after serving over 10 years at the insurance company. At MMFSL, he held the role of VP & CIO and was responsible for IT across all the non-banking financial services business including retail loans & mortgages, SME corporate loans, consumer durables financing, financial products distribution etc.Rao has now joined Aditya Birla Health Insurance as EVP & CTO. In this new role, he will be spearheading the technology domain and will leverage his areas of expertise in driving innovation at the health insurance firm.
He has over two decades of experience in leading IT across banks, Insurance, and financial services entities. Rao has worked at leading BFSI institutions such as Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, ICICI Bank, Birla Insurance and more, in the capacity of IT leadership roles.
Rao holds a Bachelors in Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunications from the University of Mumbai. He has also earned a masters degree in management studies specialized in Finance.
Rao has always been passionate about learning and exploring the field of education, thus he has been able to achieve a few advanced technologies and leadership development certifications from premier institutes such as IIT-Bombay and the University of Michigan, Stephen M.Ross School of Business.
