Business and Technology leaders outlined ways to thrive in the era of iterative innovationIterative innovation has never been more relevant for enterprise technology leaders. Confronted with increasing pressure to do more with less in an extremely uncertain environment, business-technology leaders don’t have a choice but to promote a culture of continuous improvement within available means and budget, while preparing their companies for the future of work. Continued iterative innovation will have a cumulative positive impact on an organization’s preparation for the future.

Competing for the future, however, starts with a shift in perspective. This message resonated on day one of ETCIO Spectrum held on 10th June 2021.

Business and Technology leaders outlined ways to thrive in the era of iterative innovationInto its second edition, ETCIO Spectrum yet again assimilates business-technology leaders, from India and abroad, on a single platform to delve into future possibilities, and propel these possibilities towards a vision of tomorrow.

On the first day of ETCIO Spectrum 2021, Abhishek Singh, IAS, President & CEO National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Government of India, opened with a keynote address themed on “Collaborative Innovation is key to resilient digital transformation 4.0”.

“We saw the digital divide as it impacted the education in the rural areas, the digital education can be a problem and we need to address in the days to come,” Abhishek Singh, IAS, President & CEO of (NeGD) and (MeitY) Government of India said while addressing the online education in the pandemic.

He concluded his session by highlighting the ways of technology adoption and the benefits of digital transformation. Singh emphasised the vaccination drive going on in the country and has also focused on the use of technology in the healthcare sector.

After setting the tone, the virtual conclave witnessed a massive audience joining the platform to get engaged and gain sights from top technology and business leaders.

Sessions during the first day of the conclave focused on topics such as building a robust availability and backup strategy, Unlocking Growth & Resilience through Iterative Innovation and more. The conference engaged speakers in various formats of sessions such as panel discussion, fireside chats, case study presentations, and more.

In one of the fireside chat sessions, Sankarson Banerjee, Chief Information Officer, RBL Bank said “In certain areas, cloud storage is much more efficient than hard-disk premises. However, on-premise backups are more under your control and reliable, they are easier to offset, they are to keep secure for a longer period of time. With the cloud, it is easier to backup and adds incremental storage but it is less obvious how to store it for a longer period of time.”

The conference was not only joined by technology leaders, but business leaders also participated in the topical discussions and shared their industry insights.

In a discussion on digital transformation, Ajay Kapur, CEO – Aluminium & Power and MD – Commercial, Vedanta Ltd, presented various use cases of technologies such as AI and the Industry 4.0 model of the company.

“We are leveraging industry 4.0 for operations and at the supply chain to get deeper process understanding and visibility. We use digital technologies to evaluate critical operational parameters of different units and to stay connected with stakeholders. Our smelters have to run 24/7, thus we have implemented technologies to remotely monitor and control our operations,” Ajay Kapur, CEO – Aluminium & Power and MD – Commercial, Vedanta Ltd said.

A few leading startups also joined the conference to present their perspectives and business models. In a panel discussion themed on born-digital companies and their operations amid this pandemic, panellists from different industries share their business models and market insights.

“When you start scaling startups, you wear multiple hats but as the startup becomes larger and larger you start to find specialists. While hiring we need to find people who can manage tasks on their own and they can take that ownership and accountability. This is going to help the company succeed,” Shrini Viswanath, Co-founder, CTO, Upstox said in the discussion.

Many industry experts and technology leaders were witnessed speaking on various topics at the virtual conclave. To name a few, Anita Pai, COO, Yes Bank; Vinod Bhat, CIO, Vistara; Arvind Sivaramakrishnan, CIO, Apollo hospitals; Ramesh Lakshminarayanan, CIO, HDFC Bank; Shantanu Preetam, CTO, PayU, and many more.
