Vijay Sankaran has joined Johnson Controls as CTO. The Ireland headquartered conglomerate produces security, fire, HVAC, and sustainable building products. The company is on the mission to deliver sustainable buildings around the world and is innovating its solutions with automation and new technologies.In this new role, Sanjaran will be responsible for accelerating product software engineering development and expanding customer solutions through the OpenBlue digital platform. He will report to George Oliver, Johnson Controls chairman, and chief executive officer.
Sankaran is a seasoned technology leader who was most recently CIO at TD Ameritrade. He led a team of 2000 employees with responsibility for digital strategy, software engineering, and technology operations.
He has over 20 years of experience working across the globe in a spectrum of industries. Prior to TD Ameritrade, Sankaran worked in Ford Motor Company for over 12 years and moved on from the role of CTO. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed his MBA from Duke University Fuqua School of Business.
