Though he will be based out of Mumbai, his role will require a lot of travel as Pirmal Pharma has footprints in the US, Europe, and Canada, Sumit Garg told ETCIO.
Piramal Pharma Solutions is a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) that offers end-to-end services required to bring a drug into the marketplace efficiently. The company has a vast network of Development and Manufacturing facilities located in North America, Europe and Asia, with 3,500+ employees across the globe.
In the new role, Sumit Garg will be leading the technology vertical, digital transformation initiatives and will strategically manage IT to benefit the business.
Sumit Garg has over 25 years of professional experience and has worked with GSK Consumer & Pharma for over two decades. At GSK, he was responsible for delivering IT strategies with focus on digital supply chain, paperless manufacturing, and business transformation through IT. In his last role at GSK, he served as an IT Director for APAC region.
After GSK India’s merger with Hindustan Unilever Limited Limited in the first half of 2020, Sumit Garg joined SenseAI Ventures in an Advisory role for a few months before joining Piramal Group.
He holds a Masters in Computer Applications from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology as well as a Masters in Physics from Punjab University.
