Sigfox Ukraine has announced that 25% of the population of Ukraine is now covered by the Sigfox 0G network. This achievement was made in a little over six months.
Key Ukrainian cities are already benefitting from the network including Kiev, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Kremenchuk, Mykolayiv, Smila, Chernomorsk, and Kryvyi Rih.
With a strong focus on smart metering solutions, covering water, gas and heating, Sigfox Ukraine is building a network that enables these use cases.
Sigfox Ukraine has already successfully completed several pilots in both large and small cities where 0G wireless connectivity has demonstrated excellent quality of service. For example, smart meters are transmitting data from under a 1-meter-deep lead-covered manhole to over a distance of 3+ km. Another use case is smart meters installed in residential buildings behind several concrete walls and transmitting data over 5+ km.
Dmytro Ozerov, CEO of Sigfox Ukraine, commented: “Our customers are providing positive feedback and have already ensured the adoption of the Sigfox 0G smart metering solution across the country. We will strengthen our efforts in smart metering, and have also started to address logistics use cases by engaging with several customers and building the relevant coverage”.
“Sigfox Ukraine is one of the latest 0G operators in the Sigfox family that already covers 72+ countries today. We are excited to support Sigfox Ukraine addressing their local smart metering market. In cooperation with them, we have tested and approved the new Sigfox-compatible water meter by Nero which offers an effective and affordable smart water meter for the Ukrainian market, whilst a Sigfox-enabled gas meter is coming soon. Sigfox Ukraine is also highly valued for the work they do in supporting global customers with division or suppliers operating in Ukraine. Sigfox Ukraine already serves customers from Germany, Denmark, Belgium and others. It proves, once again, that Sigfox is a truly unique global IoT communication services provider with widest reach delivered across a single seamless network,” comments Glen Robinson, Chief Revenue Officer at Sigfox.
Sigfox Ukraine’s goal is to cover 85% of the population, including large industrial facilities and logistics centers.
