Lexus is poised to launch several new SUV models over the next few years, and a detailed Reddit post purports to know a lot about what’s in store, from redesigns of existing models to new additions to the lineup. We typically take these kinds of rumors with a grain of salt, but given that Lexus has filed official U.S. trademarks for many of these new nameplates, we think there’s some credence to the info presented. So here’s a look at what could be coming to your local Lexus showroom in the near future.
Lexus RZ450e: It’s Electric
Lexus has already confirmed that it will launch its first electric vehicle soon, and showed a concept called the LF-Z Electrified that previews this upcoming EV crossover. The company filed a trademark for the name RZ450e, and we expect this model to look similar to the concept car and feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain.
Lexus TX: Three-Row SUV
Lexus’ current three-row crossover offering is the RX L, which was an interim solution that simply stuffed a small third row of seats into a slightly enlarged version of the existing RX. It will reportedly be replaced by a new model called the TX, and we found Lexus trademarks for TX350 and TX500h that suggest it could possibly offer both gas V-6 and hybrid versions. We can expect it to feature a longer wheelbase than the RX this time around to provide better space in the way back. Its styling may draw inspiration from the LF-1 Limitless concept from several years ago.
Lexus LX600: Fancy Land Cruiser
Toyota isn’t bringing the latest version of the Land Cruiser to the U.S., but Lexus is planning to sell its upscale sibling here once again. We’ve already seen a teaser for the new LX, and a trademark filing for LX600 confirms the Reddit rumor that its number will increase compared with the current LX570. We think it will use the same twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 as the Land Cruiser, and the post on Reddit claims that it will offer a hybrid version along with a more luxurious VIP trim.
Lexus GX550: Off-Road Cred
Rumors concerning the next-generation GX SUV will excite off-road enthusiasts. Fitted with the name GX550, the new model will reportedly emphasize its 4×4 image in an attempt to compete with the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes-Benz G-class. It’s likely to continue using body-on-frame platform, and could offer similar styling embellishments and accessories as the GXOR concept from 2019 (pictured). Like the LX, its sole engine offering will likely be the twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6.
