Mechatron Solar has added two new designs to its portfolio of dual-axis trackers to better serve the agricultural and residential markets. The new agriculture model, M16KD, features spacing between panels to permit more light to reach crops beneath the tracker. The new residential model, M10KD, features a reduced size — about half the size of the flagship model M18KD — to better fit within limited space requirements. Both models should be available in Q3 of this year.

The M10KD tracker, smaller than the flagship M18KD model, features a platform table that is seven panels high and seven panels wide, designed for residential installations. The tracker yields solar power of up to 20.5 kW using 420-W modules. The lower edge of the panel platform moves between 4 ft and 14 ft off the ground, and the upper edge of the panel table moves between 29 ft and 14 ft off the ground.

The M16KD tracker, designed for agricultural installations, features a platform table that is eight panels wide and 10 panels high, with the addition of 10 in. spacing between the vertical panel stacks, which permits more light to reach crops beneath the tracker. The tracker yields solar power of up to 33.6 kW using 420-W modules. The lower edge of the panel platform moves between 4 ft and 14 ft off the ground and the upper edge of the panel table moves between 29 ft and 14 ft off the ground.

The flagship M18KD dual-axis solar tracker supports a platform of 90 panels of 144 cells each and is the largest dual-axis tracker in the global solar market.

While the cost of the new models has not been announced yet, both are expected to present an ROI of four years or less, as does the flagship M18KD.

Mechatron Solar sources components globally and assembles tracker kits at its Stockton, California headquarters. Mechatron Solar’s patented trackers provide a higher yield than both single-axis and fixed-tilt designs with the same number and type of panels.
