Photovoltaic foundations manufacturer Solar Mounts recently designed and engineered seven- and eight-high portrait solar carport systems. The canopies have a reduced number of posts to cut excavating and labor costs and installation time for installers while increasing the number of modules per section.

The seven-high system was recently deployed at Kindle Dodge Dealership in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, producing 193-kW using just nine foundational posts; compared to 166 kW on Solar Mounts’ previous six-high carport system. An additional 65 panels were fitted on the seven-high configuration.

The eight-high system can fit 11 panel columns totaling 88 panels per section of racking, compared to a standard six-by-eight carport which fits 48 panels a section.
