Kia’s burgeoning electric vehicle lineup is set to expand to include the EV9 SUV, which could be the electrified Telluride we didn’t even know we wanted. The EV9 will share a platform with the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 7 and should come with either rear- or all-wheel drive, with the latter version using dual electric motors. In the brand’s smaller EV6 SUV, the dual-motor setup makes up to 576 horsepower. Driving range is said to be as high as 300 miles per charge, but Kia hasn’t released information about the EV9’s battery size or motors.
What’s New for 2024?
The EV9 is an all-new nameplate for the Kia brand and the next in the company’s plan to have 11 new electric vehicles for sale by 2026. We expect to see a production version o the EV9 debut sometime in 2022 with deliveries to customers in 2023.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
Kia has not released information about the EV9’s pricing, nor do we know what features will be standard and optional on the new SUV. When we find out more, we’ll update this story with that information and make a recommendation on which of the trims will offer the best bang for your buck.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
Kia claims a 300-mile driving range for the EV9 and says the SUV will also be able to charge on 350-kilowatt fast charging stations. We aren’t sure what size battery pack will come standard or if a larger one may be available as an option but we should find out that information closer to the SUV’s on-sale date.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Inside, the EV9 will offer seating for at least six across three rows of seats. The concept car uses recycled materials such as reclaimed fishing nets and other discarded plastics to create a more sustainable interior. The concept also sports a large panoramic sunroof and a 27.0-inch infotainment display
