In addition to convenient charging of electric vehicles, the aim of the expansion was above all to optimise the use of hybrid vehicles. In order to reduce CO2 emissions, the hybrids should be driven electrically as much as possible. This can now be easily achieved with daily charging.

In addition to the construction work and the laying of the cables, the available power of the property’s mains connection first had to be increased. The expansion of the charging infrastructure cost a total of around €60,000, with the state of Baden-Württemberg providing €20,000 in subsidies.

The Elsner vehicle fleet is now 25% hybrid and 20% pure electric. As early as 2017, Elsner Elektronik had a public charging station built on the company premises, where employees also charge their electric vehicles. However, the growing number of electrified vehicles had increasingly led to bottlenecks here. The four new charging stations now enable stress-free charging during working hours.

The switch to alternative drive concepts and the provision of the appropriate charging infrastructure is part of the building technology manufacturer’s expanded sustainability strategy. The photovoltaic system on the company roof, which has been in place since 2019, will make a significant contribution to the charging current in the summer. For the purchased energy share, the company switched to green electricity from renewable sources at the beginning of 2022.

Beyond such individual measures, Elsner Elektronik participates in sustainability projects such as “Klimafit” of the Calw district and has committed itself to compliance with the WIN Charter of the state of Baden-Württemberg. Since June, an environmental management system according to DIN ISO 14001 has also been introduced. Along these guidelines, Elsner Elektronik wants to continuously improve its eco-balance.
