Overview

Strikingly styled and perfectly posh, the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR stands out in its class of compact-luxury SUVs for its beauty. But its party trick is its 550-hp V-8 and roaring exhaust note. While other performance-oriented SUVs such as the Porsche Macan GTS and the BMW X3 M offer even sharper, more focused driving dynamics to accompany their souped-up engines, the F-Pace SVR has a softer bearing which makes it more agreeable as a daily driver. The trade off, of course, is that the Jag’s handling isn’t as thrilling as several of its rivals. Inside this British confection the cabin is fit for a Royal, with fine materials including gorgeous quilted leather upholstery and a host of tech features featuring a large 11.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 11-speaker Meridian stereo system.

What’s New for 2022?

The beastly F-Pace SVR received a thorough refresh for the 2021 model year, so for 2022 it carries over with no notable changes.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

Historically, Jaguar has offered the F-Pace SVR in a single lavishly equipped spec, and we don’t expect that to change for 2021. Standard equipment will be generous, given the SUV’s base price. Jaguar hasn’t released the options list, but we’ll update this story when we find out more.

    Engine, Transmission, and Performance

All Jaguar F-Pace SVR SUVs come with a muscular supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 under the hood. This engine generates an impressive 550 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque and comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends torque to all four wheels. In our testing, the 2019 F-Pace SVR made the 60-mph run in a scant 4.1 seconds, but improvements to the powertrain for 2021 should result in even quicker acceleration. But while 4.1 seconds is indeed impressive for a vehicle this size, it trails the time logged by the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. That SUV made the dash in a crisp 3.4 seconds. It also lags the 3.7-second time of the Performance-pack-equipped Porsche Macan Turbo. The F-Pace SVR offers keen handling and precise steering but not at the sake of driver comfort. Jaguar tuned the SVR to ride softly over harsh roads, making this ute a pleasant choice for daily commutes.

    Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

According to the EPA’s methodology, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR achieves fuel-economy ratings of 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. While respectable, these numbers are eclipsed by those of rivals such as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (17/23 mpg) and Mercedes-AMG GLC63 (16/22 mpg). In our time with the Jaguar, we faired a little better than expected, observing 24 mpg on our 200-mile highway fuel-economy test. For more information about the F-Pace SVR’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

    Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The cabin design is both elegant and sporty. The aggressively bolstered front seats are attractive to the eyes and comfortable to the backsides. We’re fans of the quilted upholstery, which boosts the luxury quotient within the cabin. Both rows of seats provide reasonably roomy accommodations for adults. The F-Pace SVR offers 34 cubic feet of cargo space behind its second row. That’s considerably more cargo capacity than you’ll find in rival models such as the Porsche Macan (18 cubic feet) and Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (19 cubic feet). Plus, the F-Pace SVR’s rear seat has a 40/20/40 split that allows you to accommodate a variety of luggage while also keeping some seating available.

    Infotainment and Connectivity

Jaguar has equipped the F-Pace SVR with a load of tech features. All models come standard with an 11-speaker Meridian audio system and an infotainment system with a 11.4-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration is on hand to help you seamlessly connect your devices, and Bluetooth phone and music streaming comes standard. All models are equipped with navigation and SiriusXM satellite radio, too, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

    Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The F-Pace SVR comes with helpful driver-assistance features that may help to keep you out of harm’s way on the road. For more information about the F-Pace SVR’s crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

    • Standard lane-keeping assistance and lane-departure warning
    • Standard automated emergency braking
    • Available adaptive cruise control

      • Limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
      • Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
      • Complimentary scheduled maintenance is covered for five years or 60,000 miles
