Trina Solar launched the TrinaTracker Agile 1P Dual Row, which is a dual-row, one-in-portrait, single-axis tracker compatible with modules from 400 W to 670 W. The Agile series is a new member of the TrinaTracker family after the Vanguard series launched in December.

Agile 1P has officially gone into mass production. Up to now, the global installed capacity of TrinaTracker has exceeded 5 GW, with 8 GW of annual production capacity on trackers in 2021.

CPP, a wind tunnel test organization, put the Agile 1P tracker through dynamic, static and full aeroelastic wind tunnel tests, simulating operation under actual conditions. Through these tests, TrinaTracker optimized the hardware’s design to ensure all the components of the tracker system were operating in these simulated conditions.

Agile 1P leverages a multi-drive (dual-slewing) system and patented spherical bearing to improve the overall stability of the tracker system, effectively reducing the system’s aeroelasticity, improving load transmission efficiency, avoiding rotation error and enhancing the overall structure. The spherical bearing can minimize the structure stress and deformation and further improve reliability and adaptability in complex terrains, the company stated in a press release.

Agile 1P will stow at a horizontal orientation in gusty wind, preventing structural failure. The Dual-Row design of Agile 1P shortens the tracker length to only 72 M (approximately 236 ft), installation up to 120 modules per tracker.

When compared to a conventional 1-MW system layout, the amount of Agile 1P trackers is reduced by 33%, the company stated in a press release. The spherical bearing of TrinaTracker uses self-alignment with angle adjustability of 30%, which can correct the installation deviation and reduce failure rate as well as operation and maintenance costs.

The upcoming TrinaTracker SCADA system, upgraded from TrinaTracker Cloud, will feature remote monitoring, early warning, intelligent diagnosis and troubleshooting. It’s meant to boost the effective operating time under different weather conditions, diagnose the real-time tracker problems and perform troubleshooting accordingly. Agile 1P uses a proprietary “SuperTrack” algorithm that delivers an extra yield gain up to 8%.

“Trina Solar’s tracker business has to consider the developments from all perspectives,” said Duan Shuwei, head of the tracker business unit at Trina Solar. “Currently, [the] tracker industry’s primary focuses are wind engineering and structural enhancement, but we also need to consider the software development such as intelligent tracking algorithms and SCADA system.”
